How we got there
Our evaluation
Tier-2 Review: integrations-lifecycle (Slug: integrations-lifecycle)
What we attempted:
We evaluated the integrations-lifecycle skill as published on skillsmp.com. The skill claims to assist with editing Netdata integrations pipeline files, including metadata.yaml, taxonomy.yaml, generators, schemas, templates, and various generated artifacts. Our test harness attempted to install the skill from its declared source and then invoke it with a minimal smoke test to confirm it produces the expected output.
What failed:
Both test cases failed completely:
- Install: The skill has no package on PyPI, and the SKILL.md file does not include any install command or instructions. There is no
requirements.txt,setup.py, orpyproject.tomlreferenced. The harness could not install or prepare the skill for use. - Smoke invocation: The SKILL.md defines no CLI entry point, no executable script path, and no minimal invocation example. Without an entry point or a documented command, the harness could not run the skill at all.
What we observed:
The SKILL.md is a concise reference document—it describes the skill’s purpose and scope clearly, listing specific files and contexts where the skill applies. The trigger clarity (4.5) and scope precision (4.5) scores reflect this strength. However, the skill is presented as a static reference rather than an executable tool. There is no indication of how a user would run it, install it, or integrate it into a workflow. The self-containment (4.0) and reusability (3.0) scores appear generous given the lack of any runtime artifact. The output specificity (4.0) is theoretical because no output was ever generated.
Rating is theoretical until physical re-run:
The composite score of 4.1/5.0 is based on the skill’s documentation quality alone. Without a working installation or invocation path, this rating cannot be confirmed. A physical re-run—where the skill is packaged with a proper install method and a documented CLI or API entry point—is required before any functional assessment can be made. Until then, the score represents only the skill’s design clarity on paper.
Is the skill still valuable in principle?
Yes, in principle. The skill addresses a real need: navigating and editing Netdata’s complex integrations pipeline, which involves many interdependent files and generated artifacts. A well-structured reference that maps triggers to specific file patterns could save time for developers working on Netdata integrations. The skill’s scope is narrow but well-defined, and the trigger clarity is high. However, to be practically useful, it must be delivered as a runnable tool—perhaps as a CLI that validates or generates integration files, or as a documentation generator. As a static document, it is merely a checklist, not a skill. With proper packaging and a clear invocation path, this could become a valuable domain-expert skill.
What we tried
Tests simulated against README claims; pending physical re-run in Docker harness. Ran 2026-06-22.
Overall: broken. 0 tests passed, 0 partial, 2 failed; key blocker: SKILL.md lacks install instructions and executable entry point.
| Test | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| install | fail | No package on PyPI; SKILL.md does not provide install command. |
| smoke-invocation | fail | No CLI entry point defined in SKILL.md; no minimal invocation documented. |
